Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors that best explain therapeutic alliance reported by children receiving counseling to provide basic data for child counseling. Data were collected from 150 pairs of children (1st-6th grade) and counselors who had more than three years of experience in counseling with professional certificates. The findings are as follow: 1) therapeutic alliance perceived by children was significantly connected to the parent-child relationship; 2) children, who perceived as positive their relationships with their parents, reported better therapeutic alliance than the children whose relationship with their parents was perceived as negative; and 3) multiple regression analysis revealed that mothers¡¯ social support was the key predictor of therapeutic alliance.
